Innocence is beautiful but children can also be cruel. Virtue is not automatic. It is chosen with eyes wide open in the face of rejection, even mockery. It is chosen in the name of love, in honour of the lover of my soul.
One day soon, when my true self is fully revealed, my virtue and love will be automatic and free but for now it is the child of loving obedience in the power of the Holy Spirit.
