Simon Peter had noticed the traces of grief on the face of Yeshua.  He stood up and indicated to James and Yochanan to follow him.

Carefully, they made their way in the darkness, following in Yeshua´s steps, until they could hear his cries and sobs which stopped them cold.

Simon Peter wanted to rush to his side but they were stayed by the uncertainty of violating this intimate moment.

So they simply sat down where they were and listened to the sounds of his weeping, and before long they, too, were weeping with uncontrollable grief and understanding none of it.
